Two years ago, we put in tiny little cherry trees in pursuit of the goal of having an edible landscape.
(They’ve grown a bit…)
Last year, the birds ate them all because we were gone for 2 weeks in early June. This year? I might actually get a batch of preserves out of ’em!
I’m picking every other day and they’re gorgeous!!!
They look wonderful! Cherry jam is very good!
Yep, it is, and we had late freezes here last year AND the year before, so it’s been a while since cherries were prolific.
Those look so good.. I love cherries… hope you get enough to can 🙂
I’m hoping so too! 🙂
Nice cherries! I picked the last of mine a couple of days ago. I pit and freeze each day’s pickings and process them all at the same time.
After freezing the first two pickings and then pitting them frozen, I started doing that too! I’ve actually an old clamp on cherry pitter that we bought on ebay, but I haven’t quite figured out how to work it – it’s mashing up the pits and not seperating them as it goes…maybe I’ll have my more mechanically inclined husband take a look and figure it out, lol…
